Accessibility
Penmaenmawr Museum is an accessible venue. Doorways and corridors are a minimum of 1.2m wide and the layout of public spaces and the public toilet allows for wheelchair access and turning. The floors of the museum are level and you will not come across ramps or steps.
Toilet facilities

Lift
A wheelchair-accessible lift is available if you require access to the first floor.
Assistance dogs
Visitors with assistance dogs are welcome.
Hearing loop
The museum’s gallery and coffee shop is fitted with a hearing loop. To access the loop, please switch your hearing aid to the T-position.
British Sign Language (BSL)
Some of the museum’s volunteers are learning British Sign Language (BSL) and they would welcome the chance to improve their skills with visitors who use BSL. You will also find information about local history in BSL on the museum’s digital screens.
Sunflower lanyard
Sunflower lanyards are available at the counter in the coffee shop and at the reception desk. If you choose to wear the lanyard, our volunteers will understand that you have a hidden disability and you may want a little help or more time. You don’t need to explain why you are using the lanyard or provide proof of a disability. They are free to use.
Parking Spaces for Blue Badge Holders
- On-street parking for Blue Badge holders is available in Penmaenmawr high street. Depending on the spaces available, the distance to the museum from the on-street parking is between 10 and 50 metres.
- For safe access to and from your vehicle, we recommend you use the car parking facilities in Fernbrook Road if possible. Please see the ‘By Car’ above for directions to the car park.
- In Fernbrook Road car park, there are two Blue Badge parking bays near the library in the car park. There is ramped access to the high street between the public toilets and the library.
- Follow the ramp to the high street and turn right (the pavement is approx. 1.7m wide, widening to approx. 3m wide).
- Follow the pavement around to the right, until you reach a dropped kerb.
- Cross the road at the dropped kerb. There is another dropped kerb on the other side. When you reach it, go left and follow the curve of the pavement around to the right (the pavement here is approx. 1.7m wide, widening to approx. 2m wide).
- Continue straight ahead for approx. 100 metres.
- Penmaenmawr Museum is on the right, opposite the Mountain View bunkhouse.
- The pavement outside the museum is approx. 1.4m wide and the entrance to the museum is flat with a 1.2m-wide doorway.
